We have always loved the oversized Oysters from the 1950s.
Known by their Italian nickname ‘Ovettone’ (big egg), they are very collectible and are the precursors to the sports watches. This example is everything you’d want – thick case, tall bezel and lovely glossy black dial.
The steel case remains in strong condition.
The gloss back dial has applied yellow gold markers, coronet, text and hands with a subtle blue seconds hand.
The dial is signed ‘T SWISS T’, which leads us to believe that this may be an early service dial with zinc sulphide lume.
The hands have the original radium lume.
The watch comes on a folded link Jubilee bracelet 6251H with 55 endlinks and clasp stamped ‘1 69’. The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
These watches just hit different, and we know you’ll love it. Let’s talk either here in the lounge or on the phone!
